Fourteen unpublished tracks by fourteen composers were selected for the first international Call for Scores by 19’40”. More than one hundred composers from all over the world responded to the call, sending works for its three categories: original piece, transcription or sabotage of a pre-existing work. The scores received were to have a duration of about 194 seconds, more or less the length of a pop song, and were conceived specifically with the Esecutori di Metallo su Carta’s instruments in mind.
Call for Scores is where composers with very different backgrounds and origins meet: in the same album we find works by Vincenzo Parisi, winner of the first prize at the Composition Competition of the Milan Conservatory, Francesco Bucci, a trombonist in the metal trio Ottone Pesante, Lucia D’Errico, a researcher at the Mozarteum in Salzburg and Fabio Cuccu, guitarist and frontman of a prog-rock group.
Each piece is a different world, with its language and mood. Included in the collection are also works by Simone Farò, Andrea Sommani, Alice Hunter, Antonio Della Marina, Pietro Dossena, Matteo Minotto, Dario Gatto, Alvise Zambon, Julene Elorduy and Alan Abd El Monim.
